These terms govern your use of the Snoko mobile app and website. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Snoko.
1. What Snoko is — and is not
Snoko is a record-keeping and coordination tool for group savings (stokvels). It lets groups create shared "pots", record contributions with proof, review and approve those proofs, track balances, record expenses and payouts, and vote on group decisions.
Snoko is not a bank, deposit-taking institution, payment processor, money remitter, or financial services provider, and does not claim any licence to be one. Snoko never holds, receives, or transfers members' money. All money moves directly between members outside the app (for example by EFT or cash). The balances shown in Snoko are a record of what your group has reported and approved — not funds held by us.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older and provide accurate information.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- One account per person; you may not impersonate anyone.
3. Your responsibilities in a pot
- Upload only genuine, unaltered proofs of payment, receipts, and payout proofs.
- Only record contributions and expenses that actually happened.
- Use your group's money lawfully. Snoko may not be used for money laundering, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, or any unlawful pooling of funds.
- Treat other members respectfully; admins and recipients must review submissions in good faith.
4. Group governance
Pots include voting features (for example, votes to remove a non-contributing member). Vote outcomes are binding within the app — they determine app roles and membership — but they are not legal arbitration and do not replace whatever agreement your group has among its members. Disputes about actual money owed between members are between those members; Snoko provides the records.
5. Content you upload
You keep ownership of the images and content you upload. You grant Snoko a licence to store and display that content to the members of the relevant pot, which is the point of the service. Do not upload content that is unlawful or infringes anyone's rights.
6. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we protect it, in line with POPIA.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Snoko available and accurate, but the service is provided "as is" without warranties. We may add, change, or remove features, and may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Snoko is not liable for losses arising from member conduct — including members who fail to pay, misreport contributions, or misuse group funds — nor for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or your rights under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using Snoko at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or as described on the account deletion page. We may terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice where reasonable.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
